Our history
Sigedis was founded in 2006 by the Banque-Carrefour de la Sécurité sociale (BCSS - central social security data), the Office national des pensions (ONP - national pensions office), the Service des pensions du secteur public (SPS - public sector pensions service), the Office national de sécurité sociale (ONSS - national social security office) and the Service public fédéral Sécurité sociale (SPF - Federal public service for social security).
Our very first assignment was to modernise and digitise the IT management of individual accounts containing career data for private sector employees.
Early 1960s
Management of individual accounts by the CGER
2001
Creation of Cimire
As a result of the privatisation of the CGER, the government decided to launch the public-private non-profit organisation, Cimire, to manage individual accounts.
2006
Creation of Sigedis
In 2006, Sigedis was created to take over and modernize the management of individual accounts containing the career data of employees in the private sector, and transfer them into public hands. In July 2009, the new database was for the first time put into production within the social security.
2011
Launch of the 2nd pillar database (DB2P).
Central database which gathers information on all second pillar pensions in Belgium.
Launch of mypension.be
A digital platform (in collaboration with the Federal Pensions Service) that gives every citizen an overview of their personal pension file on line.
2013
Integrated careers database
Since December 2013, Sigedis has been working on a single, integrated career database for all occupational systems.
2016
Supplementary pension added to mypension.be
Clear, personal and transparent information on supplementary pension reserves.
2017
Launch of mycareer.be
Gives citizens an overview of their Belgian career and their career opportunities.un Belgische loopbaan en loopbaanmogelijkheden.
Launch of CareerPro.be
Simplification of administrative procedures for employers concerning the career and training data of their employees.
2019
Launch of CareerPro.be Documents
Offers employers the option of transferring their electronically signed employment contracts to Sigedis.
2020
Launch of belgianIDpro.be
To apply for a NISS/INSZ number quickly and securely for foreign employees.
2021
Launch of PensionStat.be
Reliable and relevant figures on all pensions in Belgium. This platform is accessible to everyone.
2022
DB2P.be becomes PensionPro.be
To support all professionals dealing with supplementary pensions data.
2023
"Gender & pension" module added to PensionStat.be
The module provides key figures on the pension situation of women and men and more specifically on the pension gap between the two.
2025
Launch of citizen mandate platforms
In cooperation with the National Social Security Office ONSS/RSZ, citizens can share specific identity data and give their consent to employers or organisations to consult these data.
Launch of mybelgianID.be
Foreign citizens have the opportunity to apply for a digital key to access government online services.
