Flexi jobs in 2025: discover our latest figures

Since the launch of flexi‑jobs, when they were still limited to a few sectors, we have seen a clear increase in the number of people making use of them. Thanks to the data from Sigedis, in collaboration with the NSSO, we now have a clearer picture of who performs a flexi‑job and what their main employment looks like.

How many flexi‑jobbers are there in 2025?

In the third quarter of 2025, we counted 261.868 flexi‑jobbers. This is a clear increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Flexi‑jobs are reserved for:

• employees who work at least 4/5 for one or more other employers, or
• pensioners.

In the third quarter of 2025, more than a quarter of flexi‑jobbers were pensioners. The majority (over 70%) therefore perform a flexi‑job alongside another job.

How does the basic employment of flexi‑jobbers look?

An employee may only perform a flexi‑job if he or she worked at least 80% of a full‑time job in K‑3.

Our latest figures show that:

• 83% of flexi workers work more than 95% in their main job.
• Only 17% work between 80% and 95% in their main job.

Flexi‑jobs are therefore mainly taken up by employees who already work almost full‑time during the quarter in which the eligibility condition applies.

What is the gender distribution?

The figures show a clear gender dynamic:

·        In the smaller group of flexi‑jobbers who work between 80% and 95% in their main job, nearly 7 out of 10 are women.

·        In the large group of flexi‑jobbers who work more than 95%, the distribution is almost fifty‑fifty: roughly equal numbers of men and women.

This pattern remains consistent across almost all age categories.

Flexi‑jobs: growing, but mainly supplementary

Flexi‑jobs continue to grow and are mainly used as a supplement to full‑time employment. It will also be interesting to follow how this trend evolves from July 2026 onwards, when flexi‑jobs will be opened up to all sectors.
