Launch of the Pilot Project for a European Pensions Monitoring System
21/09/2023
A consortium of experienced European pension stakeholders is taking up the European Commission's challenge to develop the pilot project for a European pension tracking system.
The European Commission has asked for an online cross-border tracking system to be developed for pensions. This system should allow people who have worked in the EU to track the pension entitlements they have accrued during a career spent working in different member states and systems.
The European Commission will be investing €1.7 million in this project over the next three years. The project is a continuation of the former TTYPE (Track and Trace Your Pension in Europe) project, which ran from June 2013 to June 2016 and provided the possible design, recommendations and business plan for a European pensions tracking system.
Since 1 January 2019, the consortium has been developing the pilot European pensions tracking system under the existing brand name www.FindyourPension.eu. This website has been helping researchers who work in different countries to manage their various pension entitlements since 2011.
In the first phase (pilot project), ETS provides general information about the pensions landscape in a large number of European countries and helps mobile workers to find their pensions providers in at least five Member States. The main objective is to provide cross-border workers and other workers who are professionally mobile with an overview of their pension situation. The interfaces and the technical foundation required to display the accrued pension entitlements will therefore be created through ETS in a proof of concept as part of the project.
The aim is to launch the service in stages and connect as many national tracking systems and pensions providers as possible to the platform after the pilot project.
